We are preparing for our 2008 Mid-America Regional Student Conference at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. We plan on taking a large group of students to this regional student conference. Our chemical car teams are preparing to compete in the Chem-E Car Competition, as this competition is the highlight of the weekend. At the Regional Conference, you can attend career workshops, technical paper presentations, and you will have a chance to get to know some of your chemical engineering counterparts from Universities across our region. If you are interested in attending the 2008 Mid-America Regional Student Conference, please email Dan Dobesh at daniel.j.dobesh@ou.edu.

The 2007 National AIChE Student Conference was our most successful conference in OU AIChE history! We ended up placing a record 3rd place in the Chem-E Car performance competition. We also ended up taking a recored 30 students to this conference. Instead of flying to the conference, we decided to road trip across the United States. MapQuest said that the trip would take over 17 hours if we drove straight through. Of course, we stopped at a couple tourist destinations along the way to stretch our legs. The trip there ended up taking 26 hours while the trip home ended up taking around 21 hours. We ended up considering the road trips there and back to be almost the most enjoyable part of the entire trip. After all, who wouldn't want to spend an entire day driving across the Midwest in a few 15-passenger vans loaded with bright chemical engineering students?
