NANOSTRUCTURED ANODIZED ALUMINUM

This experiment for the anodization of aluminum is established but a lab manual still needs to be written for the students. Anodized aluminum is an ideal substrate in that it possesses vertical pores perpendicular to its surface, see figure 6 below. Electrochemical etching forms these pores and pore diameter can be precisely controlled from 300 nm down to 2nm.

The experiment will consists of the following parts:

Electrode chemical synthesis of anodized aluminum: this apparatus is present our laboratory and is capable of synthesizing pore sizes from 300 nm to 2 nm.

Characterization: is primarily done by electron microscopy and atomic force microscopy.
